Thanksgiving is approaching quickly, and I've managed to avoid the stress of cooking for the holiday by getting my dinner catered this year. Since I don't need to expend energy on trying not to kill my family with Salmonella, I have extra time to think about the things that I am grateful for. And I am grateful for a lot. I hope that I always hold on to this ability to appreciate what I've been given, rather than focusing on the things that I don't have. I really believe that your level of gratitude directly correlates to your ability to feel happy and content, whatever life may bring. So, with this in mind, here is my gratitude list for today:
1. I'm grateful for friends who crack me up on a regular basis. 2. I'm grateful for heat! As I shivered in my apartment last week, I finally accepted the fact that it was time to start using the heat. As I turned it on, I realized that I am lucky to have the means to live in a warm, comfortable environment-not everyone does. 3. I'm always grateful to be able to enjoy a career that inspires and intrigues me every single day. 4. I'm grateful for the wonderful patients that I have. Seriously, I see a lot of people, so the odds are good that at least a few will be awful human beings. Yet, so far, I can honestly say that I enjoy everyone who walks through the door of Healing Point Therapeutics. 5. I'm grateful for waking up every day in a state of good health. 6. I'm grateful for sleep! You don't realize how lucky you are to have a deep, restful night's sleep until you start talking to people about their sleep patterns. You would be amazed to find out how many people can't fall or stay asleep. These people would kill for a good night's sleep, so if you are a sound sleeper, be thankful for it! 7. I'm grateful for my new Sketcher casual shoes, which are so comfortable that I often feel like I am wearing socks to work. I've never realized how much havoc you can wreak on your body by wearing the wrong shoes. I've had hip pain and shooting pains up my legs for the past year. I thought it was just part of getting older, but then I changed my shoes, and these miseries simply disappeared. Never underestimate the powers of a good mattress and a good pair of shoes-they can change your whole life!
