Long-time readers of this blog may remember my "30 Days To A Happy Ending" series, where I spent 30 days writing about becoming happier and more fulfilled by changing one small thing in your life every day. Since I am obsessively goal-oriented, I thought it was time to start a new project. Spring is at hand, and even though we never really had a winter here in Boston, the approaching season still signals a desire for change in most of us.
So, let's spend the next 30 days meeting here and getting inspired to get healthier...not just in body, but in mind and spirit as well. At the end of these 30 days, I hope to see positive changes not just in myself, but in my readers, as well...and then I would love to hear about them!
Day 1: Sttttrrreeetttcccchhhh
I am notorious for not stretching before or after intense exercise, and then spending the rest of the day hobbling around and whining about my aches. I know, I'm an idiot. Stretching isn't just for exercise, however. Those muscles will be a lot happier if you wake up with a stretching session to prepare them for the day ahead. Add in some deep breathing to get your Lung energy circulating, and you will notice an immediate difference in the way you feel. And remember: small but constant forward momentum is the key to success. These daily suggestions should be incorporated in a way that is easy for you to fit into your lifestyle, or you simply won't keep up with them. Start with two minutes of stretching in your bed when you first wake up; that is doable. The point here is to create small changes that will gradually become a part of your lifestyle, and eventually bring you to a place of enhanced health and well-being.
