Today is Earth Day, but I'm not going to rant about recycling or saving the environment like everyone else is today. We listen to enough of that on a daily basis. In fact, if you read the news, watch television, or have even minimal access to the internet, you're probably convinced we only have a few months of enjoying the bounties of Earth before it implodes. I know that there have been a lot of natural disasters lately, but that has been the case since the beginning of time...only back then we were blissfully unaware, since we weren't constantly inundated with info overload. Our goal today is to take a few minutes to forget about all the negative things we've been hearing, and try to develop a sense of appreciation for the positive.
This is our home, and it's a gift. We didn't build it, pay for it, or invent it. It's a place that feeds and maintains us, and contains beauty beyond our imagination-and most of the time we don't even need to travel that far to find it. So soak it in, generate some gratitude, maybe spend some time researching places of magnificence and mystery...it will renew your sense of wonder about this planet, and may even inspire some travel plans!
