Interesting Link

I'll be gone over the weekend, to hang out with my mom while she has a surgical procedure done (any good thoughts that you can spare a moment to send her way would be greatly appreciated!)  So, no blog for today, but I did find this article and wanted to share:

Enjoy!

Bad Medicine

I grew up in a fairly small town, and as a result, most of my friends shared the same doctor.  During my childhood, he suffered a great tragedy, which he couldn't seem to separate from his worklife.  As a result, his behavior became quite strange and sometimes borderline abusive.  I remember him throwing my two-year-old brother down on the treatment table violently, then roughly restraining him while jabbing him with a shot, furious because he wouldn't stop squirming away from the needle.

It's Day...ah, Never Mind...

Since I am not the type to give up on a goal, there will still be a reminder to change one tiny thing in your life each day, to get into the lifetime habit of healthier living.  However,  looking over the past few blogs, I must admit that they have gotten booooorrrrinnng.  So, I'm going back to my (almost) daily blogging, about life and sex and all kinds of good stuff.  You can still get your inspiration for daily change at the end of each blog.
This weekend I attended my first hypnotherapy class!

What Can You Accomplish In 30 Days? Day 16

I'm running low on ideas today, so instead I will link to an interesting article about why we should have regular eye exams:

Sorry, that's the best I could do for today!

What Can You Accomplish In 30 Days? Day 15

So what is our goal on day 15?  Start listening to what your body is telling you.
I've seen this over and over....people (myself included) research ways to be healthy, try them out, and feel like crap.  Then, they either give up or continue on, thinking that this is just the way it is.
When it comes to detoxing, there is always a period of misery when your body is simply pissed off that it can't have what it wants.  That is a given.

What Can You Accomplish In 30 Days? Day 14

OK...I skipped day 13.  I was busy, what can I say?
Day 14:  Once again, I need to get back into regular self-care mode.  Of course, acupuncture is the first thing I am thinking of here; I skipped my treatment last week and it definitely makes a difference in the way I feel.  But even if it's not acupuncture, I want to make sure that I have some downtime permanently scheduled into my calendar...and you should all do the same.  For those of you who can't fit extra pampering into your budget, check out my past blog on ways to get affordable self-care:

What Can You Accomplish In 30 Days? Day 12

When I was in my early 20's, I went through a severe bout of tanorexia.  Stupid, I know.   My friends still joke about how at one point, you could only find me by tracking the whites of my eyes and my glowing teeth.  It got to the point of near-obsession; if I didn't go tanning every day, I'd actually get a bit depressed.
Now that I am in my 30's, I would never think about going to a tanning salon.  However, I'm not all that careful about being out in the sun, either.

What Can You Accomplish In 30 Days? Day 11

Several weeks ago, I set up an appointment with a new dentist.  When he asked me if I flossed regularly, I confidently told him that there was no need-I had the Oral B Triumph!  It is a top-of-the-line electric toothbrush that does everything except give you a massage when you are finished.  Truthfully, I've gotten lots of compliments on the whiteness of my teeth since I started using it.  (I don't work for the company, by the way-it's just a really good toothbrush!

What Can You Accomplish In 30 Days? Day 10

I've got nothin' today.  Really.  I'm on my way to a health expo in Providence, and I don't have time to sit here and mull over a change I can make today.  So, instead, I am linking to this site for all of you couch potatoes out there who are fantasizing about starting a running routine once the warm weather really sets in:

This is a running schedule that really starts from the ground up.  It won't satisfy those of you who are already into a running routine, but it is perfect for the beginner.  It's a great way to slowly ease into long-distance running without getting overwhelmed.

What Can You Accomplish In 30 Days? Day 9

I like alcohol...in moderation, of course.  I don't go crazy with it, but there is nothing like a nice glass of wine to end a stressful day.  Notice that I said aglass, not a bottle.
Lately, I've noticed my tastes veering toward harder stuff.  Now, again, this doesn't mean that I drink every day, or that I have a bottle of Jack before bed.  When I do go out for social occasions, though, I've started to drink cocktails rather than wine.
